I feel like shows such as “Teen Mom” can’t do much else to depict the unglamorous side of teen pregnancy. They show everything exactly the way it happens in these young parents’ lives. Unfortunately, these girls are seen as stars due to their numerous followers and appearances. In my opinion, the message can be taken different ways by different people. Some girls see the hardships that these young moms go through and realize they don’t want that for their future. Other girls are trying to get pregnant just to be on the show. I think, for the most part, girls are going to take the information given to them and use it how they want to. MTV does not try to hide the troubles that these young parents face. In fact, they focus on these issues because more drama creates better ratings. It is one general message and how you perceive it is up to you.

I agree with you in the sense that these shows do depict what teen mothers go through on a daily basis, but the message gets distorted. Young girls take the message and believe that they should be like these girls instead of do their best to stay away from that lifestyle.

I like the perspective you took on this subject. Everyone else seemed to jump at MTV and say that they are not doing their best to discourage teen pregnancy. I like that you aren’t afraid to say how you feel. A needle in a hay stack

I think its sad that this show has motivated young teens to get pregnant just to be on the show.
